Just when you thought they couldn’t get any worse, GetUp urged voters in the Longman by-election to vote for a former neo-Nazi and white supremacist candidate ahead of the LNP candidate. GetUp’s disturbing tactics were covered in The Australian:
“Following [GetUp’s] advice would mean putting Australia First candidate Jim Saleam, a former neo-Nazi, and One Nation’s Matthew Stephen, ahead of Mr Ruthenberg.”
Saleam has an appalling record, according to 2GB:
“Dr Saleam has a history of involvement in the extreme-right, founding the militant white supremacist group “National Action” in the 1980s. He’s also a convicted criminal, jailed in the ’90s for being involved in an attack on African National Congress representative Eddie Funde’s home.”
GetUp was so desperate to attack the LNP, it was prepared to back this Australia First candidate so long as it furthered their agenda.
